Travel Light not Tight
"Everywhere you go, always take the weather with you".
When the Crowded House sang this classic, they obviously did not have everyday travelers in mind. After all, don’t we all wish we could pack in more than just the memories of the places we visit when we come back from a holiday? The trouble is, more often than not, we pack so much into our baggage when going to the dream destination, that there is little space to pack in anything, leave alone the memories.
Holidays are times to let go of your everyday tensions, be it home related or things pertaining to the office. They are times to sit back and enjoy some special times with the family and friends. To build new bonds and moments, while leaving all baggage of the past behind. But that’s not the only baggage you must leave behind. To ensure your holiday is light, it is equally essential to keep the luggage light too. Because believe it or not, over packing, is one of the most common mistakes made by travelers worldwide.
According to experts, no matter how big your travel plans, you can actually wrap it up in one bag. There are many advantages to travelling light:
- Carry less, travel more
No matter how well planned your trip, there will always be occasions when you may want to do a detour and explore a little more. On these occasions, having a light baggage ensures you don’t have to worry about where to leave them or how to carry them.
- Security
With an increased focus on security as well as baggage weight limits, it is essential that you have a light luggage. This is even more so while travelling abroad or when taking connecting flights. Keeping it light will ensure you can explore without a care rather than worrying about your luggage wherever you go.
- Save Money and Time
Having a light luggage enables you to keep your mode of travel flexible. Remember, if you travel light, you can also use your budget more sensibly. It also helps you save time, especially when you don’t have to wait for the baggage for long at airports.
Following some simple rules can help you keep the baggage light. Firstly, always keep an essential list that you will need. Base this on the kind of place you are visiting, the weather, the activities you plan to do, the nature of events – formal/informal and the longevity of the trip itself.
So the next time you decide to go globetrotting, just go the light route! |
