Sunshine tips for a healthy summer
What does the season of sun remind you of?
Depending on which part of the world you are reading this from, it probably means different things to different people. For some, it may simply be about soaking up the summer sun on a splendid beach or spending a fun filled holiday with the grandparents. For some others, it is perhaps reminiscent of indulging in home-made lemonades or the treats of chilled ice creams.
Think about it. Summers were not always about just the rising heat or the best cosmetics to escape it. In short, they were not always about hiding away from the sun, but actually having some fun!
This summer, keep the sunshine on by revisiting your childhood and ensuring a treat for not just yourself but the entire family, right from your home!
Treat the kids to some fun times
The intense heat during summers can leave most people feeling dehydrated and hence low on energy. As a result, most parents end up asking their kids to stay indoors to escape the heat. But indoors can be just as much fun. Let your kids discover the joy of a sunny day at home. Help them create some exciting mocktails and team them up with some fresh fruit and green salads to go with an indoor game. A great way of whipping up a healthy snack for children is to use nuts like almonds that will also keep them energized. Use the occasion to also teach them about the benefits of these fruits.
Don’t avoid outdoors, enjoy them
Summers are tough times to be out. But they are also holiday times, and so you must ensure that you make the most of it. Instead of staying indoors all the time, use the right preventive measures to protect your body from sun burn and dehydration.
Go for a swim with the family and splash the worries away. What’s more it will help you keep fit too! Of course, don’t forget to protect yourself from the harsh sun by wearing a sunscreen with a high SPF. The summer season usually results in many allergies and water borne infections. To escape this, always ensure you consume food from hygienic places. Avoid cold cuts from the roadside, as they usually have high germ levels.
All in all, this summer, enjoy the sun and have some fun! |
